Vape pens are small cannabis oil vaporizers that resemble a writing pen. They have a pre-filled reservoir of cannabis oil near the mouthpiece and a battery for the lower half. Many of them don’t have a power button and instead turn on their heating element when you suck on the mouth piece. This is the most portable type of vaporizer yet rarely lets you adjust the temperature. The oil emits little smell so they can be used discretely almost anywhere.
When using a vape pen, the onset of effects is usually felt within seconds of inhalation. The effects will peak in the first 30 minutes and diminish within two hours.
Some daily tokers find switching to vape pens difficult at first because the effects can be weaker and it can take time for your system to acclimate. Newbies, however, quite like vape pens because they are discreet, don't smell, you only buy contained cartridges instead of flower and they do not require a learning curve.
Today there is a huge selection of vape pens on the market. Ask the budtender at your local dispensary to explain the difference between models, options, cartridges and functionality. They should be able to help you find the perfect strain and hardware for your needs.
The tide is turning. A majority of Americans think cannabis should be legal and our laws, state by state, are starting to accomplish this. But millions are still denied access, or languish in prisons, due to antiquated laws that hurt rather than help us.
Do your part to help these fellow citizens and show the world how cannabis should be managed, with education, understanding and compassion:
- Support reform legislation efforts by the Senate
- Ask your Congressional Representative to join the Cannabis Caucus
- Support Veterans’ access to Medical Marijuana
